Good Morrow, Gamers! So over the last few months, I've found myself buying a few more small box/tiny games as opposed to your "traditional" box sizes that you'd find Ticket to Ride in, for example. I wanted to bring my top ten small box/tiny games to the table here in case you're in need of suggestions of lil stuff that's easy to travel with or store if you don't have a lot of room. While there's definitely crossover, I tried to pick games that covered a bunch of different mechanics so there's something for everyone! But without further ado, let's check them out!

Heellloooo, Gamers! So, like probably a bunch of you, I've been doing a bunch of remote gaming over the past few weeks to stay connected with people and give some of my peeps something fun to do together since we're all going a little stir-crazy.
While better days seem to be just ahead, I still wanted to compile a list of the games that work best virtually because, hey, you never know when you might need them! All of these can be played with only 1 person owning the game, and providing the other players with scans/photos of scoresheets, or the players using dry erase boards, paper and pencil, or touch screen devices. Let me know what you've found worked best over video chats, because I'd love to have more ideas handy! Happy Gaming~ Howdy solo gamers! Glad to have you here for this post! If you've followed much of what I've written about in the part, you probably know I'm not a huge solo gamer. Partly because I live with my forever gaming partner, and since we work a very similar schedule and have very similar tastes, we usually play together, and partly because I'm very lazy and do not like to take the time to set up a game by myself and for only myself. However, a whole bunch of the games that I own do have solo modes, so over the past few weeks, I've been trying some more of them out to see which ones I like best, and these solo modes hit the top of the charts! Plus, I haven't done a list in quite some time, so I thought this would be a great one!
If you're like me and haven't really been able to get super into solo gaming in general, for whatever reasons, I think this list is a good place to start because the games generally don't have heavy rules, and they have pretty light or easy set up and clean up. The list also features various mechanics, because I've found that these are my favorites that do solo for their "thing" (i.e. roll & write, deck builder, etc.) Moreover, I lean toward solo games that have an objective you're trying to reach (i.e. score X points within X rounds) or compare your score to a scale (to earn you a title) rather than just "record your score and try to do better next time!" So if you're interested in trying some games on your own, check these out, because they're some of my favorites! Happy Gaming~ Howdy Ho, Gamers, and a Merry Christmas if you were celebrating yesterday - otherwise, I just hope you had a great day!
You may recall that last year I took a look at my Top 100! Well, I decided to do that yet again this year, for the funz, and wow, was I surprised! I knew a played a lot of games in the last year, many which I loved, and I knew that I grew fonder of the roll-and-write genre as well, which pushed some of those forward a bit, edging some other games out. But I was definitely surprised at just how much my list changed, and how many new things made the list! New games below are noted with a (N) while games that appeared on last year's list have (#) next to them, with whatever number they came in at last time. So check out my list, and let me know what's on your Top 100 (or even Top 50, or just Top 10! I just want to talk about games, okay?) And as always, happy gaming :) Hey there high (and low) rollers! I wanted to take a blog post to talk a little bit about dice and a few different (random-ish) aspects of them because, in case you didn't know, I LOVE dice!
There are so many varieties and lots of reasons to buy them all up ... especially if you just like to find excuses to buy them, like me. From RPG needs to board game upgrades and more, picking out the perfect sets is so much fun! I personally find it difficult to pull myself away from dice displays at stores and conventions, and more often than not I end up buying a set or two, even if I have no real plans for them other than "they look so nice!" So let's dive ever so slightly deeper into the dice pool and talk about what's to love about dice! Or, well, what I love about dice ... but maybe you'll love these things too! |
