What's up, Gamers?

It's that time of year again! For those of us who can't afford/can't attend/don't want to attend big ol' Gen Con, we are participating in GenCan't!

This year I've had a lot going on, so I'm keeping it small scale, just me and my husband, doing our own thing for a bit, probably playing some new games we picked up, and maybe revisiting that Gloomhaven scenario we still haven't finished. I did customize our badges a little bit, and pulled out my old "Welcome" sign, but I passed on the cookies and big get-togethers this year.

I did want to share one more thing in this small preview post though! I wanted to post the link to my roll-and-write game Roller Space that I submitted to the GenCan't design contest. It's still pretty rough, but I had a lot of fun designing and submitting it, so I wanted to put it out there in case anyone wanted to give it a go!

Hey party people! So this weekend I attended my very first Tas-Con, and so I wanted to do a super quick recap on it! It was only 1 day (9am - 11pm on a Saturday) and a small number of people, but it was a great time! A lot of fun and something that got me out of the house playing games with some new people, which, if you know me, is quite the feat because I never leave the house and strangers frighten me to be honest.

The con featured a silent auction (that got too big for the tables set aside for it, which was cool), a wide selection of snacks and drinks, and some very friendly people (as well as a fantastic host!)! We got 10 games played throughout the day (8 new to us), sold a bunch of our not-our-faves games for a little money, and picked up a bunch of new games that we were very excited about, at some great prices!

While we're used to weekend long conventions (of vastly different sizes) this was a nice addition to this year's lineup and I'm so glad we got to check it out. A list of the games we played, some quick opinions, and a few pics await you below!

Well gamers, another convention is in the books and it was awesome! Granite Game Summit may be small, but it definitely packs a big gaming punch. And while I didn't participate in everything they had to offer, they had a lot of great stuff going on all weekend like ....

This was my second year at G2S, and I definitely hope to continue going each year, as long as they're hosting! It's really well organized, well run, and provides a great weekend for a really game-focused experience. I love that it's tight-knit enough and gamers are trusting enough to leave soooo many games out for others to try! If you're in/near the Nashua, NH area around this time next year, I highly recommend checking it out!

Howdy Gamers! Another year of PAX Unplugged came and went, and while I'm terribly sad that it's over, I'm once again super glad that I went. It was a lot of fun in a great community of dedicated and generally happy-go-lucky gamers!
It is such an inviting and welcoming place to be for a weekend. I was able to let go of a lot of stress and have a really great time with my fiance, and it was great to be able to do that and not have to worry about work , life, and anything other than board games. We just played games, cruised the vendor hall, bought a TON of stuff, and I also went on a mini scavenger hunt for an owlbear and that was pretty dang exciting as well.
I've got a handful of pros and cons I wanted to mention from this convention experience as my recap as well as, of course, a bunch of fun photos from mostly the games I was playing. Please enjoy! And hopefully I'll see you next year at PAXU! :)

Hey there, Gamers!

Yesterday (was it yesterday? It feels like a hundred years ago...but it was November 3rd) was, as far as I know, Extra Life Day in a lot of places! One place was The Portal in Manchester, CT! They hosted a 24-hour gaming event fully equipped with plenty of attendees, games, tournaments, a silent auction, and of course, coffee! I was lucky enough to finally attend for the full 24-hours and I had a blast. I got to try a bunch of new games, see and play with some people I haven't seen in a while, meet some new people, and win a few new games in the auction (while also giving to a amazing cause!!)

There isn't much to say beyond that I am very happy that there are people in my area willing to put together such a great event and help to raise money for the children's hospital. I just wanted to put it out there that if you're in the area, definitely check out The Portal and their future Extra Life events. And if you're not, check for Extra Life events in your area and experience something awesome!
