It's time to gather your heroes and embark on an epic adventure of battle and control! Are you strong enough to endure whatever your opponent throws at you? Well, there's no better time to find out! In this preview of Skytear, I take a look at a prototype copy and talk about the beginnings of this upcoming adventure game. So take it all with a grain of salt, and enjoy! What Is It? Skytear is a card-driven miniature's based game inspired by MOBAs (Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas). You'll activate your different heroes (4 from a given faction) and move around the board to achiever one of 3 randomly selected goals through battling your opponent, and gaining control of certain areas on the board. Who Is It For? I'd recommend this one to ages 13+ because it's not too difficult but does require some strategy that may be too much for younger players. I'd also say it may appeal to fans of MOBAs or battle-type games because it does have that feel to it overall. PROS
CONS
Final Thoughts I can't make too many sound conclusions yet since I just have a prototype copy of an eventual minis game, but I can say this given my experience - the game feels like it is still in earlier stages and needs work before it is "all there" so to speak. This opinion could be based on my limited prototype, or my rules experience, and may vary for others. But to me it just felt like it needed a little streamlining before it could really take off. I will say though that I think it has a lot of potential and I do hope to see it thrive.
I'm looking forward to seeing the final product! Additional Information: Designer - Giacomo Neri Kickstarter - www.kickstarter.com/projects/999897216/skytear BGG - https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/259061/skytear Website - https://www.playskytear.com/
